Bassist and composer with diverse influences, Loïc Souriant draws inspiration from his Guadeloupean, Marie-Galantese, Bordeaux, and Breton roots to create a distinctive universe he defines as “Caribbean Groove Jazz,” an original fusion of jazz, Caribbean rhythms, and funk. At the age of 18, he began performing on stage in hotels and at the Pointe-à-Pitre Center for Arts and Culture, quickly establishing his presence within the local music scene. In 1981, he joined the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he refined his craft and enriched his musical identity through contact with artists from around the world.

Throughout his career, he has collaborated with internationally renowned musicians, including drummer Will Calhoun of Living Colour. Upon returning to Guadeloupe in 1984, he pursued a professional career as a bassist, performing regularly in clubs, venues, and festivals, including the Îlot Jazz Festival in Pointe-à-Pitre and the Terre de Blues Festival in Marie-Galante. He has also toured in southern France.

In 2014, he released his first album, Bass Traveller, in collaboration with Will Calhoun, followed by stage projects such as the 2016 Guadeloupe tour and the 2019 Funky Night alongside Carl Burnett and David Whitworth of Earth, Wind & Fire.

In 2021, he released Full Moon, fully asserting his Caribbean Groove Jazz style—a blend of contemporary jazz and Caribbean rhythms driven by a powerful groove, which he continues to share on stage with passion and authenticity to this day, through numerous concerts, including a tour in Saint-Barthélemy.
