Originally from Capesterre-Belle-Eau in Guadeloupe, Dominique Leblanc is a pianist, composer, and music educator known for his commitment to Creole jazz. Although born in the French Caribbean, he developed most of his musical career in French Guiana, where he established himself as an important figure in the regional music scene.

Alongside his work as a performer, he teaches piano and actively contributes to passing on musical knowledge to younger generations. His artistic universe is defined by an original fusion of contemporary jazz and traditional Afro-Caribbean rhythms, creating a rich and authentic musical language.

In February 2004, he founded the Jazz Kréyol Trio with Nicolas Noyon on bass and Hervé Laval on drums, the latter known for his collaborations with Kassav’. Together, they explore the connection between modern jazz and Creole traditions through original compositions.

The trio’s first album, Obsessions (2006), highlights this unique musical identity, notably with Le Domaine des Étoiles, an impressive gwoka-jazz piece. In 2009, Nos Richesses confirmed the group’s artistic maturity with tracks such as Angelina.

Through his compositions, performances, and teaching activities, Dominique Leblanc actively promotes Creole jazz and contributes to the preservation and development of the musical heritage of the French Caribbean and French Guiana.
