Maher Beauroy’s Insula (2022), released by Tropiques Atrium, is an ambitious musical project that explores the cultural and historical connections between the Maghreb and the Caribbean. Inspired by the anti-colonial writings of Frantz Fanon, the project began in 2016 as a trio with Franco-Algerian oud player and musicologist Redha Benabdallah before evolving into a larger orchestral ensemble featuring young musicians from diverse backgrounds. Through original compositions, vocals, Fanon’s texts, and traditional Afro-Caribbean instruments, Beauroy creates a rich dialogue between different musical traditions, reflecting themes of identity, memory, and cultural exchange. 

Born and raised in Martinique, Beauroy developed a passion for piano at a young age and studied at the Académie de Musique de Martinique and SERMAC, the arts school founded by Aimé Césaire. After moving to Paris in 2006, he earned degrees in musicology and music business while completing advanced musical training at the Maurice Ravel Conservatory. In 2014, he continued his studies at Berklee College of Music in Boston, graduating in 2017 with a Performance Division Piano Award. His debut album, Washa! (2019), marked a significant artistic milestone and launched an international career that has taken him to stages across Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, and Asia.
