Dony Felix is a bassist based in Miami, where he also works as a school teacher. His musical career began over twenty years ago in a church setting. For the past fifteen years, he has served as the music director at Bethel Evangelical Baptist Church, which has approximately 1,200 members. He is now active on both the local and international music scenes. In Miami, he performs with the group Oriente, known for its Afro-Cuban jazz style. The group features a diverse repertoire blending jazz, Afro-Cuban, and Haitian influences. He also collaborates with LAVIE, a jazz singer with strong Caribbean roots. In addition, he participates in various studio projects and supports other local artists. He has worked with several world music artists of Haitian origin, including Emeline Michel, with whom he performed for four years. He has also collaborated for over a decade with Beethova Obas, touring across the United States. He contributed to the work of BélO by recording a bass line on a track nominated for a Latin Grammy Award. Finally, a pivotal experience with his mentor Mushy Widmaier Gousse, encouraged by Joe Charles Jr., profoundly shaped his musical approach and artistic development.
