Mino Cinélu is a versatile and globally respected musician whose career bridges jazz, pop, and world music. Since the late 1970s, he has collaborated with an impressive roster of artists, including Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, and Sting. These experiences helped shape a musical voice that blends tradition with modernity.

Born in Paris to a French mother and a father from Martinique, Cinélu is largely self-taught. He began with guitar and bass before expanding into drums and percussion. His early life, marked by independence, led him to launch his professional career at just 15. By his early twenties, he had moved to New York, immersing himself in the city’s vibrant jazz, funk, and gospel scenes.

A defining moment came when he joined Miles Davis’ band, contributing to performances that led to the acclaimed album We Want Miles (1982). From there, Cinélu built a prolific career, releasing solo albums and contributing as a composer, sideman, and producer. His work spans film scoring as well, earning recognition at the Cannes Film Festival.

An accomplished multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, Cinélu is known for his warmth and dynamic stage presence. Honored as a Knight of France’s Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, he remains a true master of his craft.
