Jowee Omicil, also known as Jowee BasH! Omicil, is a magnetic and unpredictable force in music a musical polyglot, musician, improviser, educator, mentor, producer, and visionary composer, and one of the most inspiring Canadian artists of his generation. Born in Montreal to Haitian parents, he began his artistic journey in his father’s church, where singing and later the saxophone became his primary forms of expression. His sound transcends genres, blending Afro rhythms, Haitian spirituality, contemporary jazz, improvisation, and hip-hop into a distinct musical language.
