Mardochée William is a passionate Haitian bassist whose playing blends rhythmic precision with melodic sensitivity. His artistic journey is rooted in a commitment to promoting jazz and its Creole variations, which he performs with a distinctive authenticity.
In 2024, after settling in the southern region of the country—specifically in Les Cayes—he launched his project “Mardochée William and Friends.” As part of this initiative, he organized the first-ever concert in the city to celebrate International Jazz Day, laying the groundwork for a new cultural dynamic in the region.
Building on this experience, Mardochée became the Coordinator of the Jazz LaCayes Festival, an event poised to become a defining musical and cultural identity for the city. This role allows him to combine his talent as a musician with his skills in organization and cultural promotion, helping to elevate Haitian jazz on both the national and international stage.
Today, he continues to move forward by developing his own repertoire and expanding his collaborations, affirming his identity as a creative and committed bassist while working to make music a powerful means of connection and cultural transmission.
